Centennial Light

Livermore, CA

I visited the famous Livermore Centennial Light Bulb, the world’s longest-lasting light bulb. The bulb has been burning (almost) continuously in a California fire station for 118 years. It’s listed in the The Guinness Book of World Records, it’s the subject of numerous news stories, and it even received a commendation from President George W. Bush in 2001. When I asked the fire chief how long he expected it to continue working, he replied “I don’t know and I don’t care.”

You can watch a livestream of the bulb at it’s website.
